Machine Shop Technical Specialist

Position will start in Oxnard, CA and relocate to Henderson, NV in early 2027.

Summary

As the largest machine tool builder in the western world, we need world‑class talent in all of our departments. The Machine Shop Technical Specialist will implement, sustain and evaluate machining processes to reduce cost, improve throughput, and develop best practices within the machine shop. The main focus is on implementing and maintaining reliable and safe machining processes while improving quality, production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.

The specialist will identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Access and understand daily and weekly schedules.
  • Find, read, write & follow work instructions displayed electronically (iPad).
  • Correctly use all precision measuring instruments to verify part integrity.
  • Correctly load and unload parts.
  • Set‑up and manage applicable tools.
  • Make any machine adjustment to maintain part integrity.
  • Restart the machines at the required place in the operation.
  • Design and make fixtures using CAD.
  • Generate an effective CNC program using CAM.
  • Produce good parts when given just a blueprint and a machine.
  • Design and implement a complete machining process that will run continuously unattended, including probing, back‑up tooling, macros, and design of complex fixtures that are easy to use and continuously improve the process.
  • Identify the proper gages to ensure part integrity.
  • Train operators to run the machines and produce good parts upon completion of a set‑up.
  • Train others on machining principles and techniques.
  • Maintain machines (oils, coolant, filters, and cleanliness).
  • Display the leadership qualities required to keep multiple machines running effectively.
  • Present and communicate technical issues at the highest level within the organization.
  • Identify potential machine geometry issues causing bad parts.
  • Follow all safety requirements within the department.
  • Operate powered and non‑powered material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jack, cranes, and mobile straddle stacker lift.
  • Follow instructions, procedures and elevate any issue impacting workflow or quality.
  • Exhibit honesty and integrity while adhering to rules, procedures and policies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

None. This position does not involve supervisory activities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Knows how to inspect a part.
  • Understands proper applicable cutting tool selection, tool wear and cutting tool applications.
  • Exhibits technical leadership.
  • Can troubleshoot all technical issues.
Desired Qualifications
  • Preferred ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish.
Education

High school diploma or high‑school equivalency (HSE) credential such as a GED is required, plus 1–3 months of related experience, training and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

20+ years.

Language Skills

Must read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations in English; write analytical and technical reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, and instructional materials; and speak effectively before groups and customers.

Must add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; and draw and interpret graphs.
