ResponsibilitiesThe Youth Worker will lead and assist the Corps Officers with youth programs including Sunday School classes, Sunday Morning Worship services, fellowship times, visitation, bible studies, outreach, young adults ministries, After School during the week and Summer Day Camp. This person will coordinate and drive Youth programs and events, prepare and cook meals and snacks, and coordinate attendance with parents and all aspects of programs with Schools.
Qualifications- Two years experience working with children in a Corps/Church setting and/or a two‑year college degree in Youth Ministries or Christian Education.
- Must be a Christian with a strong personal commitment to Christ, high integrity, and comfortable discussing Christianity with children and adults.
- Experience with Salvation Army Christmas programs and a working knowledge of Salvation Army Policies and Procedures is preferred.
- Must be capable of making independent judgments with the approval of, but independent of constant supervision from the Corps Officer(s), including managing staff and volunteers and scheduling hours.
- Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, printers, and laminating machines.
- Well organized and able to maintain files and materials.
- Positively represent The Salvation Army in personal conduct and appearance.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with young persons from diverse backgrounds and communicate effectively with parents, volunteers, and professionals such as school principals and teachers.
- Valid food handler’s permit.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all requirements to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
- Receive training and certification for The Salvation Army Protect the Mission and Child Safety policies and ensure compliance in all programs and facilities.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the position’s essential duties with or without accommodation. The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus. The employee must operate a telephone, desktop, or laptop computer and access and produce information from a computer.
