Veterinary Assistant

Overview

We are currently looking to hire a Veterinary Assistant to join our team at A Cat Hospital in Henderson, Nevada. The ideal candidate is dependable, skilled and able to support both patient care and team workflow effectively.

• Support patient care and team workflow in a veterinary setting.
• Provide nursing care in a hospital setting.
• Demonstrate proper animal handling and restraint for cats and dogs.
• Draw blood, place IV catheters, and administer medications.
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring and surgical procedures, including pre-operative and post-operative care (preferred but not required).
• Utilize in-house laboratory machines and perform basic diagnostic tasks.
• Assist with ultrasounds and radiology as needed.
• Communicate clearly with clients, doctors, and all staff members.
• Work to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
• Contribute to maintaining patient welfare and safety in the hospital setting.

• 1+ years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary assistant preferred.
• Certification from a veterinary assistant program preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with cats and dogs.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for cats and dogs.
• Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital setting.
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Skilled in drawing blood, placing IV catheters, administering medications.
• Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience (monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care) preferred but not required.
• Laboratory skills including use of in-house laboratory machines.
• Diagnostic experience including assisting with ultrasounds and radiology.
• Respectful of all team members.

• Salary: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.
• Schedule:
  
  Full-time, 10-hour shifts, variable days. Opening on Saturdays in March 2026. Some Saturday coverage will be required.
