POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Safety leads operations in areas of injury prevention, task assessment, safety communications, hazardous materials storage and transportation compliance, and regulatory compliance. The role develops, implements, and manages company safety programs, policies and procedures to create a safe, secure, healthy, and accident‑free work environment. The Manager ensures the Group’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policies & Procedures are enforced within the DSV Solutions environment and that sites comply with all statutory requirements, including but not limited to OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 where applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company policies.
  • Maintains working knowledge of HSE regulations such as PIT, Hazard Communication, EAP, LOTO, Machine Guarding, Fire Prevention, and Electrical Safety.
  • Conducts pre‑operational risk assessments on new sites and implements risk‑mitigation measures.
  • Provides training and coaching to local Health & Safety Managers for technical competence and leadership development.
  • Builds partnership with Facility Leadership and acts as point of contact for safety‑related matters.
  • Conducts HSE audits and assessments to measure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Plans, administers, and manages safety programs, procedures, and systems for the assigned region, ensuring all employees receive HSE inductions.
  • Serves as DSV representative for OSHA, EPA, FDA, or other regulatory agencies and addresses site‑level issues.
  • Fosters teamwork and promotes pride in the company safety program.
  • Publishes monthly safety topics and training for site use.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, Life Safety Code, and customer‑specific requirements.
  • Monitors HSE controllers & Site Managers for safe work practices and adherence to standards.
  • Investigates root causes of HSE complaints from employees, customers, clients, and contractors.
  • Follows up to ensure corrective actions are implemented and certification requirements are met.
  • Coordinates accident and near‑miss investigations, recommending corrective actions.
  • Co‑ordinates with site safety managers on Health, Safety & Environment plans aligned with Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensures implementation of emergency procedures (EAP, ERP, BCP & EDP).
  • Delivers regional HSE training as required.
  • Provides HSE information for RFP submissions.
  • Maintains risk registers, including routine/non‑routine risks and job hazard analysis.
  • Assists with year‑end OSHA 300 log publication.
  • Assists in completing OSHA surveys.
  • Administers Workers' Compensation claims, including Return to Work programs.
  • Prepares documents for proper storage and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Possesses knowledge of EPA, DOT, HAZWOPER, and Hazard Communication regulations.
  • Oversees transportation of hazardous materials in compliance with EPA & DOT/IMDG/IATA regulations.
  • Develops and implements training for shipping, handling, and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Available for after‑hours calls and responses.
SKILLS & ABILITIES Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a medium‑to‑large warehouse HSE management, supervising 5+ associates.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in safety inspections, compliance strategy implementation.
  • Understanding of environmental and sustainability topics (regulations, green energy, waste, etc.).
Computer Skills
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Certificates & Licenses

Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or similar certification preferred.

Language Skills
  • English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Bilingual preferred.
Mathematical Skills
  • Intermediate spreadsheet skills necessary for trend analysis and program tracking.
Other Skills
  • Ability to manage indirect reports.
