On-call Remediation Heavy Equipment OperatorPart Time 1-20 Hours Technical Auburn, WA, US
Salary Range: $32.00 To $42.00 Hourly
Position OverviewThe Remediation Heavy Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery associated with environmental service projects for Gray Mar clients at field locations. This position is as needed, on‑call, and will support our Remediation projects across the country. It can be based out of any Gray Mar field office and involves heavy travel and local work.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment proficiently, productively, and in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
- Operate equipment that may include forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front‑end loaders, wheeled and track skid steers, backhoes, compaction equipment, and additional heavy equipment.
- Ensure health and safety is the number one goal by following policies and procedures.
- Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining company vehicles.
- Work with hazardous and non‑hazardous soils and substances in proper PPE while operating heavy equipment.
- Grease and maintain equipment.
- Load and unload heavy equipment on trailers.
- Participate in a drug‑free workplace with a random drug testing program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- This position is on call only, with no guarantees of regularly scheduled work.
- Requests to support ongoing project work and emergency responses can come in any time 24/7/365.
- Strong work ethic with a safety‑first mindset.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Rough and fine grading.
- Sloping, benching, and certified compaction.
- High production truck loading.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 5 years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience.
- 5 years of experience operating excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes.
- One year of previous hazardous materials, contaminated soil, or environmental remediation experience.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; commercial class A driver’s license preferred.
- 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER with current 8‑hour refresher preferred.
- Must pass drug screening and criminal background check.
- Safety‑oriented mindset with determination to follow all procedures and policies.
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
