Job Summary

Perform all types of work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. Direct crew on a routine basis and exercise leadership and good judgment when in charge. Must reside within a 30 mile radius of the Henderson Service Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain transmission and distribution facilities and all types of line equipment on overloaded/congested types of construction, energized or de‑energized.
  • Direct crew, exercise leadership and good judgment.
  • Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors, fixtures and associated equipment on overhead and underground facilities.
  • Operate cutouts, line switches, re‑closurers and other sectionalizing devices; re‑fuse line and transformer devices; change line and transformer taps; phase out and/or parallel circuits.
  • Work with live line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine modifications.
  • Make energized cut overs from old poles and equipment to new or temporary installations.
  • Select proper standard drawings and interpret specifications for new construction and live line work without supervision.
  • Locate and clear away dangerous conditions; repair facilities to restore service.
  • Place danger signs, flares, flag traffic, and place barriers as required to protect the public.
  • Operate mechanized equipment required to install, remove or maintain overhead and underground facilities.
  • Obtain, accept and release transmission and distribution clearances or permits in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform switching on all types of transmission and distribution lines and stations.
  • Install, maintain, and switch underground residential distribution and commercial facilities.
  • Locate and correct trouble using cable locating and fault‑finding tools.
  • Connect, phase out, parallel and adjust voltage on single and three‑phase transformer installations.
  • Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, maxi‑meters, recorder meters, phase rotation tester during line work at all voltages.
  • Install three‑phase regulator banks and energize or remove from service.
  • Install, maintain, operate and remove capacitor banks.
  • Patrol and inspect lines and stations as assigned.
  • Instruct customers regarding meter or service locations and advise regarding service interruptions.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required.
  • Attend and participate in training; assist in training of other employees.
  • Prepare, conduct and facilitate safety meetings.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions; report unsafe conditions and practices.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years satisfactory work experience as a Lineman A or equivalent.
  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Performed duties of and have all qualifications of Lineman A or equivalent, as confirmed by demonstration or appraisal.
  • Good working knowledge of company safety rules, resuscitation and first aid.
  • Knowledge of circuit connections, voltage identification, phasing, transformer connections and switching devices.
  • Fundamental knowledge of electricity and ability to interpret field prints and switching diagrams.
  • Valid state driver’s license and meet all vehicle operation requirements.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used.
  • Knowledge of company transmission and distribution standards.
  • Ability to deal with employees, customers and general public in courteous manner.
  • Ability to plan work and properly instruct others.
  • Physical abilities pre‑assessment required.
Benefits

Salary: $60.65 per hour. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package. Position requires regular overtime and on‑call response. Travel, including out‑of‑town travel, may also be required.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work:
Exerting 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25–50 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10–20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand exceeds medium work.
