OverviewThe Software Engineer intern will assist with various software engineer projects and gain hands‑on experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to apply their academic knowledge to real‑world challenges and develop their skills in a professional setting. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real‑world projects and contribute to the success of the company, and you will receive mentorship from experienced engineers.
The internship is a 12‑week program. The position is fully onsite and the work schedule is 40 hours/week max, 8am to 5pm M‑F. This role reports to the Electrical Systems Engineer
Responsibilities- Software Development:
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of software applications. This may include developing custom tools, scripts, and software solutions to enhance productivity. - Testing and Debugging:
Conduct testing and debugging of software applications to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability. Document test results and provide recommendations for improvements. - Data Analysis and Reporting:
Develop and maintain software for data collection, analysis, and reporting to support decision‑making processes. - System Integration:
Assist in integrating software solutions with existing systems and machinery. Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between different systems. - Documentation:
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of software designs, code, test procedures, and test results. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date. - Collaboration:
Work with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and production managers, to understand software requirements and deliver effective solutions. - Research:
Conduct research on new software technologies, development tools, and methodologies to support the development of innovative software solutions
- Education:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. - Knowledge:
Basic understanding of software development principles, programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, QT, agile, CI/CD). Familiarity with software development tools (e.g., Linux, Git, Github, VS Code, Docker). In addition, classwork and/or experience with IIOT, AWS, MQTT, nosql databases (Influxdb), JSON data structures, UI development and web development is a plus. - Skills:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively convey technical information. - Experience:
Prior internship or project experience in software development is a plus but not required - Detail‑Oriented:
Pays attention to details and ensures accuracy in work. - Motivated:
Eager to learn and take on new challenges. Shows initiative and a proactive approach to tasks. - Team Player:

Hourly compensation during the internship: $15-$30.
