Summary

The regional Truck Driver is responsible for executing same‑day pickup and delivery (P&D) operations within a defined geographic area, ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of freight. This role requires a safety‑first mindset, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to providing high‑quality, professional service. Drivers are expected to manage multiple stops per shift, maintain accurate shipment documentation, and represent DSV professionally at all customer interactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drive semi‑tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off‑duty on runs of up to one week or more.
  • Back trailers to customer dock.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and demonstrate safe and professional driving behavior.
  • Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate with dispatchers.
  • Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
  • Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
  • Swings and secures trailer doors.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Valid CDL A License required.
  • Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred).
  • Minimum 1‑year Medical Certificate – meets ICC physical qualification requirements.
  • Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41).
  • No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five years.
  • No accident involving bodily injury within the last three years.
  • No DUI/DWI, reckless driving or speed‑ing tickets 12 mph or higher in the past five years.
  • Experience in local P&D operations, multi‑stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling.
  • Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS and route‑planning tools.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer‑facing environments.
  • Experience handling high‑value or sensitive freight preferred.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Hazmat endorsement required.
Physical Demands
  • Operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods while seated.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices.
  • Frequently enter and exit the cab multiple times per shift.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1–125 pounds; lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level.
  • Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
  • Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment.
  • Walk and stand for portions of the shift on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces.
  • Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable).
Work Environment

The role requires work inside a truck cab and outdoors at customer locations, terminals, and on public roadways. Employees will encounter varying weather conditions, diesel fumes, airborne particles, noise, and vibration. Work is performed in busy warehouse yards, loading docks, and urban delivery environments, often under tight schedules and traffic congestion.
