Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products.
Responsibilities- Operate Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including HAZMAT and non-hazardous liquids and dry products.
- Conduct bulk deliveries of liquids and solids, including loading and offloading using pumps, air, and other equipment.
- Perform packaged deliveries of materials in drums, IBCs, other containers, palletized material, and supersacks.
- Manage the entire delivery process: transport, transfer, securement, and execution of all applicable paperwork.
- Execute proper loading and unloading procedures, securement, placarding, pre‑inspection, daily logs, and reporting of repairs.
- Comply with DOT, OSHA, and site‑specific rules and regulations during job functions.
- Follow all Brenntag operating procedures and work instructions.
- Undertake in‑plant movements (spotting), inter‑company branch transfers, and outside delivery to customers/vendors.
- Operate dock locks, dock levelers, and other applicable equipment for delivery/pickup of material.
- High school diploma, GED, or U.S. military experience.
- Prior experience in chemical delivery considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
- Must meet all components of driver qualifications (DQ) for employment.
- Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat endorsement as required.
- Current DOT medical card.
- Current TWIC card or proof of application in process if location requires.
- Ability to drive a manual transmission.
- For respirator use, must not have facial hair that interferes with respirator.
- Certification to operate pallet jack (electric or manual). If required by location, certification to operate forklift and accessories.
- Must be able to operate dock locks, dock levelers, and additional equipment for delivery/pickup of material.
Job Requirements
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Comfortable with general warehouse duties and the use of applicable equipment.
- Detail and customer oriented with good organizational skills.
- Complete all training as required.
- Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Always represent the company in a professional manner.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and conduct detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to learn and operate technology‑based devices such as smartphones, tablets, transportation platforms (e.g., Samsara).
- Willingness to operate power units that utilize advanced camera and safety systems (e.g., Samsara) for compliance purposes.
- Must reside local to area (within sixty miles). No lodging provided.
- Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
- Must pass E‑verify check.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- This job has no supervisory responsibility.
- Pass a pre‑employment DOT fit‑for‑duty exam.
- Must be able to sit and drive for long hours.
- Must be able to step into and out of equipment safely.
- Must be able to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment while performing loading/delivery tasks.
- Lifting ability up to 75 pounds.
- Frequently pushes, pulls, or moves up to 150 pounds.
- Must be able to wear a respirator (if required for role) and all other personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to load and unload hazardous material.
- Must be able to climb ladder.
