A look into the role

As a Stock Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day control and accuracy of stock within our freezer environment and wider warehouse operation. This is a hands‑on role that involves regular lifting and carrying of stock, creating and maintaining space, and keeping the freezer area organised and compliant. You will work closely with warehouse, sales, and trading teams to ensure stock is accurately recorded, stored correctly, and available when needed to support smooth operations.

  • Manage stock control activities within the freezer and wider warehouse environment
  • Maintain a safe, organised working area, including creating space and tidying stock locations
  • Ensure stock is stored correctly, moved efficiently, and available as required
  • Carry out regular stock checks and audits to maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Record, investigate, and resolve stock movements, adjustments, and discrepancies
  • Use the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track stock and maintain data accuracy
  • Identify and support improvements to stock control processes and ways of working
  • Produce basic stock reports and provide input to support inventory planning
  • Ensure all activities comply with company procedures, food safety standards, and health and safety requirements

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of stock control within a critical area of the operation and play an active part in improving accuracy, organisation, and efficiency across the warehouse.

Skills for Success

Minimum criteria:

  • At least 1 year’s experience working within a busy warehouse environment
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and management
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically in Word and Excel
  • GCSE Maths and English A-C, or equivalent

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to address inventory issues and optimise stock control
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment

Desirable:

  • At least 1 year’s experience in an FMCG
  • Experience with different WMS platforms and software
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Stock Controller or in a similar role within a relevant industry
