Position: Income Maintenance Caseworker II - Adult Medicaid

Responsibilities

Determine and re‑determine client eligibility for the income maintenance program, including intake processing and review functions.

Interview clients to obtain required information and complete initial applications.

Verify information obtained and determine eligibility, or complete scheduled program reviews.

Explain program requirements and options, advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate.

Report to an Income Maintenance Supervisor.

Collect data concerning family composition, financial employment and health status of clients.

Process applications through verification of information obtained during intake.

Perform periodic re‑determination or review of client cases to re‑verify eligibility.

Demonstrate considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment and general knowledge of all agency and community programs and services.

Exhibit good mathematical reasoning and computational skills, and ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.

Communicate effectively with clients, applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data and explain rules and procedures.

Instruct and evaluate the work of lower level employees and perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

Qualifications
  • One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Preference given to candidates with previous experience in Adult Medicaid Services.
  • NCFAST experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of program/areas of assignment and general knowledge of all agency and community programs and services.
  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, applicants, the public, and public officials.
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate lower level employees.
  • Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.
