Job TitleQuality Technician plays a critical onsite role in ensuring that raw materials, in-process production, and finished HVAC components meet defined quality standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and non-routine inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished HVAC products.
- Conduct first-piece inspections, in-process checks, and capability studies to verify compliance with specifications.
- Support and execute process and product audits to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and support implementation of efficiency initiatives.
- Follow and help develop internal procedures and work instructions to meet or exceed ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Collect, analyze, and report key quality metrics, including defect data, scrap rates, and inspection results.
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings to address quality issues and drive corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining production flow to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment, gauges, and quality lab instruments.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and leadership to improve processes and product quality.
- Assist with development and maintenance of control plans and work instructions in alignment with PFMEA, process flows, and customer requirements.
- Promote quality standards and continuous improvement practices across the organization.
- Support supplier quality activities, including corrective action processes (SCAR/DCAR).
- Participate in 5S initiatives and ISO audits.
- Perform lab testing as required, including environmental and durability testing relevant to HVAC components (e.g., corrosion resistance, humidity, coating performance).
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of quality data and reports.
- Reports directly to the Quality Manager
- Education: High School Diploma required;
Associate degree preferred - Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a quality-related role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in HVAC or related industries
- Familiarity with interpreting engineering drawings and using precision measurement tools
- Knowledge of quality methodologies such as SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma is a plus
- Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable attendance, with onsite presence Monday through Friday
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, reaching, and extended periods of physical activity
- Frequent exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and industrial conditions
- Quality inspection tools and measurement devices
- Laboratory testing equipment
- Computer and standard office systems
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
