Head Start Paraprofessional (Instructional)- Pre-K 3 Year Olds

The Paraprofessional supports the Lead Teacher in creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children aged 3 in a Head Start classroom. This role assists with instruction, behavior management, daily routines, and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing regulations.
Essential Job Functions- Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
- Support individualized instruction and small group activities.
- Assist with classroom preparation, including setting up materials, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Supervise children at all times, including classroom, playground, meals, field trips, and transitions.
- Foster a positive emotional climate that encourages the development of trust, autonomy, and initiative.
- Model and encourage appropriate social behaviors and self-regulation strategies.
- Help observe and document children's growth, development, and behavior for ongoing assessment.
- Support toileting and personal hygiene routines with sensitivity and care.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, and staff.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and health/safety protocols.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.
