Job Summary
The Special Education Resource Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a resource or inclusion setting. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure students make academic and behavioral progress in accordance with state and federal special education requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, targeted instruction to students receiving special education services in a resource and/or inclusion setting
- Implement IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications with fidelity
- Use data-driven instructional strategies to support student progress in core academic areas
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Support students with executive functioning, behavior, and social-emotional skills as outlined in IEPs
- Develop, implement, and document IEPs in compliance with IDEA and state guidelines
- Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and collaborate on appropriate instructional and behavioral supports
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, progress monitoring, and compliance requirements
- Ensure confidentiality of student records and information
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and access to grade-level curriculum
- Work closely with campus administrators, counselors, diagnosticians, and related service providers
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
- Provide guidance and support to paraprofessionals assigned to special education classrooms
- Follow district policies, campus procedures, and special education guidelines
- Participate in professional development related to special education best practices
- Maintain required certifications and training
- Support campus initiatives and contribute positively to school culture
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid state teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
- Strong knowledge of special education law (IDEA) and IEP development
- Ability to differentiate instruction and implement accommodations and modifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage small groups and provide individualized instruction
- Commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners
- Classroom and small-group instructional settings
- May require lifting, bending, standing, and moving throughout the school day
- Ability to support students with varying physical, academic, and behavioral needs
- Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration in support of students and campus goals
