EMI and Reliability Technician

Salary Range: $25.00 To $30.00 Annually

Purpose Statement:

This position supports Current Technology’s product development efforts as a member of the laboratory team. The laboratory team is involved in the product development process from testing and qualifying LED packages to various performance and safety testing of finished lighting products and controls. The team also provides engineering support with building prototypes, designing new tests, troubleshooting field returns and failures and writing reports for communication to external customers.

Team members work closely with Current’s global engineering team that includes engineers from various US locations, Canada, Mexico and China.

This is a on-site position at our Hendersonville, NC facility.

Essential Functions:

FCC Testing

  • Set-up, calibrate and operate radiated and conducted testing equipment and variety of other testing systems
  • Conduct measurements and assist others as needed on FCC testing equipment
  • Own the entire FCC testing process from sample submission to report generation
  • Evaluate samples and assist in electrical test set-ups for engineers
  • Provide electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance for FCC testing (radiated and conducted) and other lamp testing equipment
  • Enter/upload data electronically and manage various computer upload/communication problems
  • Maintain the equipment and maintenance logs of measurement systems

Driver Reliability

  • Set-up, calibrate and operate a variety of driver reliability chambers and related equipment
  • Create test plans, monitor test status, and move samples in and out of test chambers
  • Perform specialized LED driver performance tests
  • Evaluate samples and assist in electrical test set-ups for engineers
  • Provide electrical, electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance for testing equipment
  • Maintain the equipment and maintenance logs of measurement systems
  • Perform various aspects of 3rd party (CSA,UL, FCC) safety testing

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform various aspects of 3rd party (CSA,UL) safety testing
  • Have a part in identifying and implementing continuous improvement in all testing systems
  • Support the upgrade of FCC testing (radiated and conducted) and other testing equipment
  • Hands-on implementation of projects aimed at improving measurement productivity and quality
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical and electronic concepts, practices and procedures applied to testing and measurement equipment, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to troubleshooting and repair electronics equipment or instrumentation including controls
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written work instructions
  • Must be well-organized and excellent with detail
  • Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Qualifications:

Required

  • Associates degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or other similar degree
  • 2+ years of experience in similarly situated positions
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical and electronic concepts, practices and procedures applied to testing and measurement equipment, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Must have experience in application and use of electronic meters including digital oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, PC computers
  • Must have experience with Windows OS & Microsoft Office products
  • Have experience working with Data Acquisition Systems

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or other similar degree.
  • Have experience with Net Working, USB, GPIB, WIFI, LAN, and Bar Coding

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This hourly rate is $$25-$30/hour.
