Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Sign-On Bonus Up to $20,000 Commitment Bonus (2 Years).

Schedule:

Three 12 Hour Shifts, Full-Time Mid shift (10 am - 10 pm).

Location:

Maria Parham Medical Center - Henderson, NC.

With 20 treatment beds, the department is equipped to meet a wide range of emergency healthcare needs.

Summary

Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to:

Director or Manager of Emergency Department.

Essential Functions
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities.
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation.
  • Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care including transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
How You'll Contribute
  • Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
  • Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
  • Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
  • Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

Exposure
  • Occupations exposure to blood borne pathogens is present for all employees.
Physical requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, and repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

What we're looking for
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
  • PALS and ACLS (required)
  • Two years of RN experience (required)
  • Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
