Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Orthopedics

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Orthopedics RN with 2+ years of experience for a night shift role requiring an active NC or compact RN license.

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• 2+ years of RN experience required
• 1 year of acute care/inpatient hospital experience preferred
• Experience with post-operative care, pain management (including PCA and multimodal regimens), neurovascular assessments, and early mobilization protocols preferred

• 34-bed surgical specialty orthopedic unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, fracture repairs, spine surgeries, and other orthopedic procedures
• Fast-paced, throughput-driven unit focused on same-day or next-day post-operative mobility and discharge readiness
• Ideal patient ratio of 5:1
• Night shift schedule, 3 shifts per week at 12 hours per shift
• Every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage required
• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, physical and occupational therapy, and care management
• Assess and anticipate discharge needs for patients and families
• Communicate with patients and families to develop and update the plan of care
• Maintain competency in required clinical skills with annual competency assessments
• Promote a safe, clean environment through infection control standard precautions
• Unit may expand to include other surgical populations such as urology patients
• ACLS certification and training opportunities may be provided if required by the unit
