Maintenance Technician II

Duties and Responsibilities

This position performs semiskilled and skilled building trades such as carpentry, construction, painting, plumbing, and electrical work for the maintenance, repair, and remodeling of County facilities. This position also performs a variety of intermediate semiskilled and skilled work in the maintenance of County buildings, grounds, and facilities; performs related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Reports to the Director of Facilities Services.

General knowledge of principles, practices, tools, and equipment used in all phases of maintenance, repair, and remodeling of buildings and equipment; general knowledge of principles of construction; general knowledge of principles and maintenance of HVAC; skilled in the use of tools and equipment in general maintenance work; ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle; ability to attend work regularly;

excellent interpersonal skills.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in construction or building maintenance trades and experience in the use of hand and power tools, as well as instruments required to perform assigned duties.
