THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Hendersonville, TN. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of business and individual clients, including maintaining general ledgers, posting journal entries, reconciling bank and credit accounts, and preparing financial statements and reports. The Staff Accountant will assist with payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, and support tax preparation and compliance filings.

This role also involves reviewing financial data for accuracy, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and collaborating with senior accountants and CPAs to address client needs.

Quick Books Online proficiency is required. Experience with individual and/or business tax preparation is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for a portfolio of business clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledgers and post journal entries
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports
  • Process payroll and related tax filings for clients as needed
  • Assist with sales tax filings and other compliance reporting
  • Support tax preparation and compliance filings for business and individual clients, including document organization and data entry
  • Review financial data for accuracy and support month-end/year-end close processes
  • Communicate directly with clients and collaborate with senior accountants and CPAs to resolve questions and discrepancies
  • Assist with special projects and administrative accounting tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
  • Strong foundation in accounting principles, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on bookkeeping/accounting experience (public accounting firm experience a plus)
  • Required:

    Proficiency with Quick Books Online
  • Preferred:
    Experience with individual and/or business tax return preparation; progress toward CPA certification is a plus
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office 365 applications
  • Detail-oriented approach to data entry, recordkeeping, and documentation, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with CPAs, colleagues, and clients
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to professional ethics, client confidentiality, and continuous learning in accounting and tax regulations
