Driller

Job Summary:

The Driller will be responsible for creating boreholes and conducting soil and rock sampling to provide critical information for construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operates drilling equipment to create boreholes for various construction purposes.
• Performs drilling activities to obtain soil and rock samples.
• Conducts subsurface investigations to gather data for construction planning and design.
• Extracts soil and rock samples using appropriate drilling techniques.
• Assists in laboratory testing of samples to determine soil composition and characteristics.
• Works closely with geologists, engineers, and other construction team members to provide accurate subsurface information.
• Adheres to all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment during drilling operations.
• Performs routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Reports any equipment issues or malfunctions promptly.
• Maintains accurate records of drilling activities, including depth, soil types encountered, and any unexpected conditions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Proficient in the operation of drilling equipment and various drilling techniques.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret drilling logs and subsurface investigation reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification or training in drilling operations is required.
• At least one year of related experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods working with large and possibly noisy equipment.
• Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
