The Program Technical Office (PTO) serves as the central authority for automation strategy, technical governance, and standardization across multiple capital projects. The team is responsible for defining and maintaining automation standards, ensuring technical consistency, and providing guidance throughout project delivery.

Operating as a multidisciplinary function encompassing Automation Software, Automation Hardware, Digital Manufacturing, and Computer System Validation (CSV), the PTO provides technical oversight and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

As a PTO Engineer, you will collaborate closely with Technical Managers and PTO discipline leaders to develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and technical guidance that support successful program execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise across a range of PTO initiatives and engineering work streams.
  • Partner with PTO discipline leads to support both immediate project objectives and long-term program goals.
  • Ensure project automation solutions adhere to established program standards, technical frameworks, and automation strategies.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and refining software functionality required to support project delivery.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of PTO standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Act as a subject matter resource, delivering technical consultation and problem-solving support to project teams.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business and operational requirements.
  • Support compliance activities by maintaining required training, quality, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within industrial automation or process control environments.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages is advantageous.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solid understanding of GMP-regulated environments, validation practices, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
  • Proven involvement in large-scale automation or manufacturing capital projects within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical sectors.
  • Significant professional experience supporting regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) platforms.
  • Experience leveraging scripting, automation tools, AI technologies, or digital solutions to improve engineering workflows.
