Medical Receptionist – American Family Care

Join American Family Care as a Medical Receptionist and play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth patient care at one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S.

Company Overview

AFC is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. with 250+ clinics and 800 in‑network physicians. Each location offers on‑site labs, X‑ray, and a walk‑in model. The role reports to the franchised location manager.

Job Summary

Accurately check patients in and out, verify insurance, collect payments, maintain records, and provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient flow.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the clinic for opening each day, review facility, open system applications, and prepare new patient registration packets.
  • Greet patients, provide initial paperwork, and obtain copies of insurance and identification cards.
  • Register patients, update records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out.
  • Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues.
  • Respond promptly to customer needs, assist with follow‑up appointments and fulfill documentation requests.
  • Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit) against system reports.
  • Complete closing procedures, prepare closing documentation, and submit required reports.
  • Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.

• Previous medical clerical experience preferred.

• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office).

• Accuracy and detail orientation.

• Positive customer service skills and well‑groomed appearance.

• Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.
