M365 Engineer

Description

This opportunity is for a Microsoft 365 Administrator to support the client's M365 team during a period of understaffing and increased project demand. The primary focus will be improving the organization's Microsoft 365 security posture by reviewing Falcon Shield findings, evaluating security risks, and supporting remediation efforts across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra .

Additional responsibilities include enterprise application and app registration reviews, service account to service principal initiatives, Power Shell automation improvements, and general M365 tenant administration. The resource will work closely with the M365 Manager and Senior Engineer and will be dedicated primarily to project work rather than day-to-day operational support.

The environment supports approximately 8,000 users, and the engagement is expected to last 2-3 months, with potential for longer-term opportunities if there is a strong mutual fit.

• Hands-on administration of Microsoft 365 tenant services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra .
• Responsible for tenant settings, policy management, security configurations, and day-to-day administration activities.
• Success requires someone who has been the primary M365 administrator in a large enterprise environment and understands the platform beyond basic support.
• Experience supporting large-scale environments (approximately 8,000 users) strongly preferred.

• Lead remediation efforts related to Falcon Shield findings and improve the organization's overall M365 security posture.
• Evaluate security recommendations, assess business impact, determine appropriate remediation actions, and partner with stakeholders on implementation plans.

• Work with enterprise applications, app registrations, API access, delegated permissions, application permissions, service accounts, and service principals.
• Assist with securing integrations and improving identity management practices throughout the tenant.
• Success requires strong understanding of core Entra  and security concepts.

• Support modernization and optimization of existing onboarding and licensing automation scripts.
• Review and improve legacy scripts while identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.
• Success requires the ability to read, understand, and enhance complex existing Power Shell scripts.

• Manage policies, tenant configurations, security settings, and platform governance across the Microsoft collaboration stack.
• Support implementation of security and operational improvements throughout the environment.
• Success requires practical administration experience across the core M365 workloads and the ability to work closely with engineering and operations teams.

• Strong hands-on M365 administration experience.
• Experience operating in large enterprise environments.
• Ability to assess security findings and determine business impact.
• Comfortable partnering with multiple teams to implement changes.
• Capable of identifying improvement opportunities and making recommendations.
• Able to work independently while collaborating closely with Senior engineers and leadership.
