Project Manager​/Drafter

Our client is a full-service steel supply, processing, and fabrication company located near Nashville, TN. We are seeking a Project Manager / Drafter who will serve as the critical link between their shop drawings and execution- ensuring projects are built accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

This position is the point person between the drawings and the shop floor. You will clarify and verify what the customer needs and that those needs are accurately represented on shop drawings. You will ensure shop drawings are complete, clear, and buildable- and that the fabrication team understands what needs to be built, when it needs to be built, and how success is measured.

• Serve as the primary link between shop drawings and fabrication team
• Create and review 1- 2 fabrication-ready designs per day
• Ensure drawings, material lists, and job details are complete before release to the shop
• Communicate directly with shop personnel to clarify drawings, sequencing, and priorities
• Track production progress and ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule
• Identify/resolve issues between drawings and fabrication before they impact schedule or quality
• Accurately estimate materials, labor, and job timelines
• Manage projects from quote through fabrication and delivery
• Coordinate shipping and receiving for materials and finished jobs
• Perform quality checks before jobs leave the shop
• Communicate with customers regarding timelines, changes, and delivery expectations
• Ensure projects remain profitable, on budget, and on schedule

• Background in steel fabrication, steel supply, or structural steel environments
• Experience with drafting software (AutoCAD or similar)
• Experience creating fabrication-ready shop drawings
• Strong understanding of estimating, fabrication workflows, and shop operations
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors, and shop personnel
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication environment
• Occasional lifting of materials (up to 50 lbs)

• Prior project management experience in fabrication or construction-related industries
• Experience coordinating shipping, receiving, and material flow
• Familiarity with custom fabrication and made-to-order steel projects
• Familiarity with Tekla Structures or SDS is a plus
