Pope Saint John Paul II Preparatory School seeks a compassionate and organized School Nurse to support the physical health and well-being of our students and community. The School Nurse plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment consistent with the mission and values of Catholic education.
Qualifications- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee with experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing preferred. School nurse experience preferred.
- Must maintain current instructor certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone;
physical agility to lift up to 75 pounds; and to bend, stoop, climb stairs and reach overhead. - Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Supportive of the mission and values of Catholic education
- Willingness to travel on school trips when needed
- Provide daily health care services to students, including assessment and treatment of illness and injury
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and school policies
- Maintain accurate student health records and immunization compliance through online database
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns
Collaborate with administration, counselors, and faculty to support student well-being - Develop and implement health plans for students with medical needs
- Support emergency preparedness and response procedures
- Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school community
- Maintain AED's on campus, coordinate CPR and first aid training for faculty and coaches, complete blood borne pathogen training for faculty
- Partner with athletics - especially the trainer for TSSAA compliance
- Track student visits to help with any trends
Classification:
Full-time, 12 months, Non-exempt. Summer work includes supporting Summer Camp students.
