Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Plumber / Mechanical Engineer (Level
2) to join our team at HMP Huntercombe, a Category C men's prison. You will work Monday to Sunday as part of a comprehensive maintenance team that keeps the prison running safely and efficiently.

HMP Huntercombe – RG9 5SB

Permanent – Monday to Sunday. Salary: £36,066.96 plus a 5 % increase to recognise shift and weekend working.

As a Level 2 Plumber you will:

• Carry out routine mechanical and plumbing maintenance, inspections and repairs across the prison complex.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team that includes electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners and administrators.
• Support the smooth and safe operation of the facility, ensuring that all work complies with Health & Safety regulations.
• Use organisational, time‑management and people skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a high‑pressure environment.

• NVQ Level 2 certificate in a mechanical or plumbing discipline or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills.
