Position: VAVE Scientist/Engineer I

As a Manufacturing Scientist / Engineer in Global Supply Chain, you’ll support Bio‑Rad’s reagent and consumables portfolio by performing materials tear‑downs, mapping current‑state specifications, and identifying supplier/material alternatives. You’ll collaborate with R&D, QA/RA, Procurement, and Manufacturing to plan small, targeted evaluations and document evidence for change control. While you won’t be in the lab day‑to‑day, you’ll rely on a full working knowledge of common techniques (PCR/ddPCR, ELISA, Western blot, FACS, TC, MS etc).

You’ll Make An Impact:
  • Lead/assist product tear‑downs of on market products (biologicals/chemicals) and define CTQs and acceptance criteria.
  • Build alternatives matrices (antibody/antigen/protein/enzyme/chemical) and propose qualified alternate supply (external & internal) against performance, risk, cost, and supply continuity.
  • Compile clear data packages (results summaries, COA/SDS review, vendor tech files) that accelerate ECO/change‑control approvals and dual‑sourcing.
  • Partner with stakeholders to manage associated project deliverables and drive completion.
What You Bring:
  • Education:

    B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
  • Work Experience:

    2+ years of experience in a similar regulated industry.
  • A mid-level understanding of statistical techniques, validation methods and the ability to solve manufacturing and operational issues.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, consultative, and relationship‑management skills, with experience collaborating across R&D, QA/RA, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental techniques and validations associated with development of protein based assays, or chemical resin production.
  • Familiarity with protein/antibody fundamentals and ideally blood/plasma protein isolation and chromatograph.
Location:

This position must be based in Hercules, California
and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation:

The estimated base salary range for this position is $86,600 to $119,200 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
