Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment throughout the mill operation. This individual will also be responsible for minimizing downtime by detecting potential mechanical and electrical problems.

• Must have good analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and make on-the-spot corrections to emergency conditions.
• Able to climb stairs and ladders and work safely at elevated heights of 200 ft. and confined space.
• Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, and pneumatics, welding and cutting are necessary.
• Light Industrial Electric required, hydraulics, power transmissions, and pneumatic; basic computer knowledge; previous feed mill experience desired.

• Special projects and/or other related duties as assigned.

• Safety, inventory and maintenance processes and procedures.
• Computer systems to create spreadsheets is a plus.
• Technical and mechanical systems related to operation.

• Maintain high quality control standards; effectively problem-solve, supervise and troubleshoot.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organization.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Evaluate employees fairly and objectively.
• Work flexible hours, OT, and rotating weekends.

• College coursework in a technical field desired.
• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or a production environment.
• MS Office – Excel, Word.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfully.

Work is performed in a typical outdoor environment subject to street or field noise and environment, including exposure to loud equipment and machinery. Some duties involve working in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Position may require work, including weekends and holidays.
