Elementary School, Special Education Teacher
Hermiston School District is seeking a full‑time Special Education (Resource Room) teacher at West Park Elementary for grades K‑5. The successful candidate will be properly licensed (or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of the school year) and possess the ability to teach elementary‑school special‑education students in a Resource Room. The position begins August 2026.
Special Education modelIn this model, teachers teach students in the resource room and attend IEP meetings to provide input, while IEPs are written by district facilitators and support staff. The model emphasizes the strengths of teachers and support staff in a collaborative environment.
Salary and BenefitsSalary is based on the 2026‑2027 salary schedule: $50,894 - $101,497. Special Education teachers will receive a $2,500 stipend each school year for special‑education duties outside the minimum contracted hours. The contract consists of 193 days, including 3 paid holidays. Benefits include PERS retirement, tuition reimbursement, and comprehensive health and benefits.
