Position SummaryThe Ministry Director is the primary driver of student ministry at Campus Life Hermiston. This role owns the weekly programming, student relationships, volunteer culture, and ministry event calendar— the front lines of reaching young people in Umatilla County.
This is not a support or administrative role. The Ministry Director is a skilled, experienced youth minister who can independently plan and execute a full ministry year, develop and retain volunteers, disciple students, and represent Campus Life with credibility at school campuses, churches, and in the community. The Executive Director removes organizational obstacles so the Ministry Director can focus on students.
Primaryand Secondary Steward Responsibilities
1. Weekly Club Programs
- Plan and execute weekly High School Club
- Plan and execute weekly Junior High Club
- Develop monthly topic series planned at least six weeks in advance
- Prepare and deliver engaging messages aligned with Youth For Christ Campus Life curriculum.
- Arrive early and stay late to foster meaningful relationships with students.
- Maintain intentional one‑on‑one relationships with a core group of students.
- Develop and lead Contact Kid teams within local schools.
- Maintain regular presence on school campuses through Lunch Club, school events, and student activities.
- Facilitate transition opportunities for eighth‑grade students entering high school ministry.
- Track attendance and personally follow up with absent students within 48 hours when appropriate.
- Mentor students through formal discipleship relationships each semester.
- Recruit, screen, onboard, train, and support ministry volunteers.
- Maintain healthy leader‑to‑student ratios across all ministry programs.
- Lead monthly volunteer meetings focused on connection, spiritual growth, and ministry preparation.
- Invest personally in volunteer leadership and spiritual development.
- Encourage volunteer participation in regional and national YFC training opportunities.
- Supervise and mentor interns participating in the ministry.
- Execute the annual ministry calendar in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Coordinate retreats, camps, conferences, and outreach events.
- Plan and lead recreational activities that create relational ministry opportunities.
- Organize student follow‑up and re‑engagement opportunities following camps and conferences.
- Represent Campus Life at community events and public outreach opportunities.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and provide monthly reports.
- Establish and track measurable ministry goals.
- Assist in annual ministry reporting and strategic planning efforts.
- Maintain YFC IMPACT database entries and reporting requirements.
- Participate in regional training and implement best practices locally.
- Model a growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Lead regular times of prayer, devotion, and worship with students and volunteers.
- Maintain healthy personal spiritual disciplines.
- Pursue accountability, mentorship, and professional growth through YFC leadership.
- Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
- Participate and lead regular times of prayer, devotion and worship as a regular aspect of your role within YFC.
- Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings, conferences, camps and events.
- Model empathy, humility and care for all people. This includes promoting equity and inclusion in word and in the practice of faith expression.
Additionally, YFC employees will have an opportunity to be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ USA.
