Hermiston School District is seeking a full-time Special Education teaching position (Life Skills) at Sandstone Middle School beginning with the school year. The successful candidate will be properly licensed or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of the school year. Position begins August 17, 2026.
Special Education model:
The district focuses on the strengths of individuals. Teachers attend IEP meetings and provide input, but do not write IEPs. Facilitators handle paperwork and IEP writing. Teachers collaborate with specialists such as School Psychologists, Speech Language Pathologists, and bilingual staff to support the IEP qualification process.
Responsibilities:
• Teach Life Skills to students with Special Education needs.
• Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with facilitators and specialists.
• Support students’ progress and transition into different learning contexts.
Qualifications:
• Properly licensed or ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of the school year.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Salary and Benefits: The Hermiston School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including PERS retirement, employer-paid pickup, tuition reimbursement, and a comprehensive health and benefits plan. Full-year contract consists of 193 days, including 3 paid holidays.
