The Controller must fairly represent the financial condition of the dealership, develop controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, maintain accurate records, and establish and maintain the data processing capabilities to accomplish dealership objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities- Prepare a complete financial statement and submit it to the manufacturer by the 10th day of each month.
- Interpret and analyze the financial statement continually.
- Manage the administration team.
- Assist Department Managers as needed.
- Ensure internals are processed properly.
- Check and deliver daily mail to appropriate persons.
- Process monthly sales tax, state taxes, etc.
- Ensure annual renewals are processed timely (i.e. dealer’s license).
- Approve adjustments to inventory accounts and schedules.
- Manage and maintain Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Maintain records and process all items sent to collection.
- Process all unclaimed property annually.
- Maintain accurate accounting for dealership cash in petty cash, tills, car wash, etc.
- Manage and pay all flooring.
- Assess ongoing training of employees, providing additional training as needed.
- Back up CFO as needed on special projects.
- Maintain Ethos online training throughout the year.
- Support all aspects of our Rogers Way initiatives.
Accounting degree or experience preferred. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Type 60 wpm. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills. Dealer track DMS knowledge helpful. Professional personal appearance.
Working ConditionsThe Controller position is mostly sedentary. They will be at a desk in an office setting for most of the shift. They will spend several hours a day analyzing dealership statements and other types of written information. They will be required to use office machinery, such as computers, word processing software, mainframe and copy machine.
