Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program.

Licenses/Certifications:

Required:

BLS

Preferred:
Certified surgical technologist (CST)

CRASE training:
If travel assignment extends beyond a 6-month period, CRASE training will be required.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure.

Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure while maintaining an organized sterile field.

Perform accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator and assist with the placement of sterile drapes.

Provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure, ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed.

Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport to decontamination areas.

Assist with post-procedure cleaning of the operative room and preparation for subsequent patients.

Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities.

Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.

Compliance / Notes:

Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position.

Agency nurses will be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated.
