AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we are looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers; supply chain specialists; security experts; operations managers; and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. PDX is an AWS Gov Cloud region. As required by our contracts with the federal government, effective February 24, 2026, logical access to the AWS Gov Cloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. Gov Cloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States.
- Manage and develop teams of technicians and engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring the highest levels of performance.
- Deliver capacity to existing data centers.
- Assist in building and bringing online new data centers.
- Continuously improve all processes and procedures, striving for excellence.
- Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
- Liaise with internal teams and management groups.
- Ensure adherence to and exceedance of local Health & Safety standards in all data centers.
- Create and maintain metrics on all aspects of our data centers and utilize those metrics to drive positive changes.
- Assist in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
- Candidates must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required by business needs.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast‑paced technology company and a leader in the world of data centers. We are expanding our infrastructure management team and seeking a proven technology manager with experience in people management, robust technical understanding, and the drive and vision to elevate AWS Data Center Operations. The successful candidate will create sustainable processes and standards; drive automation opportunities to reduce delivery cycle times;
and improve quality without impacting network availability.
- 2+ years of management/team lead experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a data center technology role, and/or 2+ years of knowledge in TCP/IP networking, network cabling, fiber, optic types, and test equipment.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field (e.g., computer science, network engineering).
- Experience with installing physical data center equipment such as copper/fiber cabling and racks.
- Understanding of networking infrastructure topology.
- Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA).
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
