Job Overview
Data Center Technician responsible for maintaining the AWS global infrastructure at AWS Gov Cloud region PDX. Supports servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring 24/7 operations and adherence to safety and security standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and network troubleshooting.
- Respond to operational incidents impacting service availability and elevate to senior technicians and management.
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
- Lift and move up to 40 lbs regularly; participate in group lifts for 41+ lbs.
- Work in cramped or elevated locations, bend, lift, stretch, and reach.
- Stand and walk up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Work in a noisy environment.
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, covering nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel to data centers as needed.
- Willingness and ability to travel to or commute between data center locations, including over 50 miles or less than 50 miles as required.
- Willingness to work at alternative sites during training or until assigned facility is operational.
- Frequency of travel varies based on business needs and status of assigned facility.
- Take ownership of technical issues raised by customer base, engaging other teams for resolution.
- Solve problems at their root and understand broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Work shift work including days, nights, weekends, holidays; travel within and outside regional work area; maintain reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
- Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience working in a Data Center environment.
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering).
- Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.

Location and Compensation- USA, OR, Boardman – $27.00–$48.00 USD hourly.
