Job Description Summary

The processing utility operator will safely and efficiently operate and adjust all processes for multiple pieces of equipment; monitors line flow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; makes line changes as directed by the Production / Package Lead or Team Leader. The process utility operator will be willing and able to seamlessly change positions between current qualified jobs to meet plant needs on their respective shift.

Process Utility Operators can be asked to bid into certain positions based on plant need.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Commit to a minimum one year in the position from the date you are qualified for the first position and one year for any subsequent positions you are qualified for.
  • Work any shift as needed and may be required to cover positions for overtime or shift changes based on plant need.
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times and participate in safety programs.
  • Communicate and work with other hourly associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner.
  • Learn and perform routine checks such as CILs and FSILs.
  • Read, write, and communicate in English using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
Other Job Functions
  • Maintain 5S in areas assigned and working.
  • Use and demonstrate safe use of tools in accordance with established practices.
  • Perform frequent housekeeping to ensure safe and clean conditions in all areas of responsibility; supports 5S and Centerlining programs.
  • Work any shift, overtime, and any or all days of the week in accordance with plant needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred; knowledge of equipment limits and troubleshooting.
  • Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speaking effectively before groups of employees.
  • Mathematical skills: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing; computing rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Reasoning ability: applying common sense to carry out written or oral instructions; handling problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands: use hands, reach, stand, climb, balance, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift up to 100 lbs unassisted; vision abilities for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and adjustment of focus.
  • Work environment: noise level usually above 85 dB requiring hearing protection.
