Job DescriptionThe Processing Utility Operator will safely and efficiently operate and adjust processes for multiple pieces of equipment, monitor line flow and waste, correct problems affecting quality and production costs, and make line changes as directed by the Production / Package Lead or Team Leader.
- Willing and able to seamlessly change positions between qualified jobs to meet plant needs on the shift.
- Commit to a one‑year minimum in the position after becoming qualified for the first role and one year from any subsequent qualifications.
- Provide coverage on shift and for overtime, prioritizing assignments based on qualification and seniority.
- Act as an integral part of continuous improvement efforts surrounding these systems.
- Maintain safe work practices at all times and participate in safety programs.
- Communicate effectively with other hourly associates and salaried personnel.
- Perform routine quality checks such as CILs and FSILs.
- Read, write, and communicate in English using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, and technical manuals.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment limits and ability to troubleshoot deviations.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving standardized situations.
Regularly required to use hands, fingers, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stand, climb, balance, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Involves frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds unassisted. Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception.
Work EnvironmentNoise level typically above 85dB, requiring hearing protection. The environment involves continuous exposure to machinery and production processes.
