Job Summary
AWS Infrastructure Services is hiring a Controls Technician to support the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) at Amazon data centers. The role involves installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of controls equipment and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Primarily work in the field at data center sites and support multiple deployments and/or service activities.
- Perform point‑to‑point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
- Conduct first‑line diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation associated with the BMS and EPMS.
- Execute network configurations and communication testing between third‑party devices and controllers or servers.
- Configure and calibrate sensors.
- Read and understand electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and basic close‑loop control concepts.
- Supervise low‑voltage electrical contractors installing field devices.
- Support commissioning and system‑level testing.
- Provide red‑lined drawings, recommendations based on field work, and verify accuracy of as‑built drawings.
- Assume root‑cause analysis duties during testing and commissioning.
- Ensure all site personnel use proper safety methodology.
- Work on‑call and on a rotating schedule, responding to after‑hours emergencies as required.
- Use ticketing systems and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Walk jobsites in uneven terrain and work at heights and from ladders.
- Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 49 pounds on occasion and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
- Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Technical (Military/Trade School) diploma or Associate degree with one year of experience related to industrial instrumentation/controls or equivalent electrical or mechanical operations experience.
- Minimum one year of experience working with computer components and operating systems.
- Minimum one year of experience with mission‑critical low and medium voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher.
- Basic understanding of industrial controls systems, controllers, and programming, including troubleshooting of analog, discrete, and networked input/output field signals.
