Union Mill Feed Operator

Summary

CHS Inc is looking for a driven individual to join our Feed Mill team in Hermiston, OR as a Union Operations Specialist. The role involves performing feed mill operations such as feed making, receiving, mixing, and pelleting, plus general operator tasks. The position is on 3rd shift (9 pm–5:30 am, Monday–Friday) and includes onsite training, competitive pay and benefits, and the opportunity to work with the largest cooperative in the U.S.

• Salary range: $25.38 – $26.38 per hour
• Union role – full rate of pay after successful completion of the probationary period and shift differential, per the collective bargaining agreement

• Operate all feed manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to CHS’s quality assurance program for ingredient receiving, load‑out, and bagging.
• Sequence, record, and document all feed manufactured during the shift.
• Maintain accurate production and FDA records, entering data into Excel.
• Mix and prepare livestock feeds with accuracy and high quality.
• Assist management with production scheduling, inventory planning, and control of ingredients and finished products.
• Determine proper routing and distribution for manufactured feeds to holding bins.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers when needed.
• Observe and enforce all company policies and procedures, compliance with safety and FDA requirements.
• Communicate effectively with managers, co‑workers, and customers.
• Perform general work around the facility and other duties as assigned.

• 1+ year(s) in production and/or operations.

• Experience in mill operations, manufacturing, or similar.
• Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Pre‑employment screening required as per job requirements and industry guidelines; may include drug, criminal, motor vehicle, physical, and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks.

• Ability to lift and load up to 75 lbs.
• Comfortable in damp, dusty, dry conditions.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
