Title: Plant Utility Trainee

Time Type: Full time

The general utility will flow to work performing sanitation duties, line inspections, and rework. This includes line break sanitation activities, removing stagnant product from equipment, mixing and handling chemicals, and end‑of‑cycle cleaning. The general utility will inspect raw and finished product, removing any foreign material and product quality defects. Rework finished cased product to meet hourly/daily targets through bag blending, opening and removing bags from cases, and blending to line or tote across all lines.

• Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning agents and their uses, understand how to mix chemicals, identify hazards and first‑aid procedures associated with chemicals.
• Clean equipment using established standard operating procedures, including manual cleaning with high‑pressure hoses, ladders, air hoses, and hot water units.
• Remove cases from pallets and rework product through bag blending, reworking to totes, or sorting cases from the pallet.
• Manually inspect raw and finished product for foreign material, excess vine, or quality defects, remove defective product and dispose.
• Perform fire‑watch duties as needed.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Actively participate in Company Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice Programs.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (Preferred).

• Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral).
• Must be able to pass both practical performance and written sanitation exam.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand, walk, bend, stoop, shovel, twist, and turn frequently.
• Ability to wear sanitation suit in environments that vary from hot to cold temperature.
• Exposure to a noisy environment ranging from hot to cold in temperature.
• Ability to perform repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work at ground level and in high places.
• Ability to operate work‑related equipment.
• Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Exposure to manufacturing environments: loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, humidity, oils, smells, and allergens.
• Exposure to temperatures ranging from
  -20°F to 35°F in freezer operation and 37°F to 90°F in plant operation.
• May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
• Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.
