Line 1 Packaging Technician at Lamb Weston is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks across the L1 packaging line, including palletizing, packaging operations, and forklift handling, while strictly adhering to safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
Job Responsibilities- Actively participates in Lamb Weston Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice programs.
- Conducts packaging quality checks per procedure and by request of the Packaging Lead, Team Leader Production, Team Leader Quality, Team Leader Area Production, and Line Structure Team.
- Performs all Daily Management System standards per schedule to include CILs, FSILs, CLs, and Defect Handling.
- Operates cohesively with additional Line 1 Packaging Technician team members in management of the Line 1 packaging area, including transfer room, frozen and Bio‑Print sorters, L1 Ishidas, Lambpaks, case sealers, interstitial room, and palletizer.
- Engages in scheduled AMD activities.
- Operates forklift to move dry supply and wooden pallets to the line.
- Performs quality checks such as metal detector checks, backseal checks, bag codes, and bag seals.
- Maintains daily sanitation, including basic housekeeping of the packaging room area.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Must be able to communicate, comprehend, and follow instructions in English (both written and oral).
- 1‑2 years of experience in Food Manufacturing or related field preferred.
- Functions well in a team environment.
- Demonstrates capable troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of thinking critically.
- Basic understanding and proficiency in PC skills;
Windows, Word, and Excel. - Trained and qualified in L1 Bio‑Print, L1 Frozen Sorters, L1 packaging operations, and palletizer positions.
- Sanitation qualification is required; training provided for additional qualifications.
- Team member must be Lock‑out/Tag‑out qualified; training provided if needed.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all plant rules and safety policies as specified in the Lamb Weston Employee Handbook.
- Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Exposed to a noisy environment with temperature variations from hot to cold.
- Ability to perform repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
- Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under equipment.
- Ability to operate work‑related equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
