The processing utility operator will safely and efficiently operate and adjust all processes for multiple pieces of equipment; monitor line flow and waste; correct problems that affect quality and production costs; and make line changes as directed by the Production / Package Lead or Team Leader. Operators are expected to be able to seamlessly change positions between qualified jobs to meet plant needs during their shift.

Process Utility Operators may be asked to bid into certain positions based on plant need.

• Commit to a minimum of one year in the position from the date you are qualified for the first position and one year from any subsequent positions you become qualified for.
• During the one‑year commitment, you may not bid on any single non‑interest bid position; beyond the one year the regular bid policy will be followed. Holding this position does not grant any specific job rights for a position you are qualified to back up.
• An employee who moves to a different position may be required to work in any of the positions they are qualified for for a period of one year after bidding out.
• Upon successful completion of the prescribed training period, the employee will perform various duties as assigned by plant management, which may include any position within the production area.
• A Process Utility Operator is trained/qualified in four positions across the following groups: L5 Fryer Operator, L5 Process Op, L5 Cutter Deck Op, and L5 Batter Operator.
• The position is designed to have associates trained/qualified to fill in on shift and for overtime where absences create a need for coverage.
• If a Process Utility Operator is trained in more than one job that needs to be covered at the same time, the company will determine the priority for which position to cover.
• A Process Utility Operator trained in positions but unable to meet the job qualification standards will be discontinued from training following the policy stated in the handbook.
• The operator will be included in the overtime rotation for the positions they are qualified for and may be considered for overtime based on seniority and scheduling practices.
• Shift changes are allowed only within the group of Process Utility Operators trained for the same positions.
• Operators may be required to work any shift temporarily (generally not to exceed three months) when coverage is needed.
• Operators must maintain safe work practices, participate in safety programs, and ensure safe work practices are followed in all work groups.
• Communication with hourly associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner is required.
• Perform routine checks such as CILs and FSILs.
• Read, write, and communicate in English using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, and technical manuals.

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Know the limits of equipment and how to avoid deviations; capable of sound troubleshooting.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees in the organization.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
