Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
  • Serve as the circulating RN: coordinate patient care, equipment, and staff during surgical procedures
  • Advocate for patients and act as their voice throughout the surgical experience
  • Supervise and direct assigned personnel, ensuring adherence to policies and standards of care
  • Collaborate with the Unit Nurse Manager, House Supervisor, and RN Team Leader to maintain smooth operations
  • Assist with unit coordination tasks, including patient flow, documentation, and communication with the surgical team
  • Float to other qualified departments when needed to support staffing and continuity of care
Qualifications
  • Current, active RN license in Oregon or eligibility for Oregon licensure (compact license eligible candidates encouraged to apply)
  • Prior perioperative or surgical nursing experience preferred; circulating nurse experience a strong plus
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
    Advanced certifications (ACLS, CNOR) preferred
  • Comfort supervising and directing clinical staff and acting as a patient advocate in the OR
  • Ability to work an on-call rotation and float to other units as needed
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
  • Perioperative care: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative best practices
  • Nursing process application and clinical decision-making in the surgical setting
  • Patient advocacy and safety during surgical procedures
  • Familiarity with standards of care, policies, and procedures in the OR
  • Unit coordination, team leadership, and effective supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams
