Travel Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

Slate Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Hermiston, Oregon.

• Provides direct and indirect patient care for patients in the Treatment Center.
• Communicates with Physicians/Nurse Manager/Co-workers about changes in patient condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
• Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
• Initiates and carries out the computerized Plan of Care/Standard of Care on admission.
• Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Accepts responsibility for direction, control and planning of treatment; makes evaluations and decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Works independently and maintains patient confidentiality; demonstrates empathy and compassion to patients in pain, grief, or trauma.
• Relates to others to create teamwork and cooperation; communicates effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Participates in required education for applicable programs and performs other related duties as assigned.
• Nurses may be floated to other departments where qualified to perform patient care before core staff are floated.

• Education — Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level.

• Licenses/certifications/registrations —
  Current RN license in the State of Oregon

  . Preferred:
  Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty; may include IV certification(s)/Wound Care, CRASE training. If travel assignment extends beyond 6 months, CRASE training will be required.
• Experience — None required;
  Preferred:
  Previous clinical experience.
• Other — Knowledge of sterile technique; ability to work with a culturally diverse population; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Infusion pumps and other medical equipment, computer use, and patient charts.
• Physical requirements — Sufficient auditory and visual acuity; ability to read documentation and monitor displays; tactile perception for patient care; motor coordination for equipment use; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of individuals over 100 pounds with assistance; ability to sit for long periods as needed. May involve frequent standing, walking, and bending.
• Working conditions — Indoor healthcare environment (hospital/clinic/long-term care) with variable temperatures; exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials; PPE usage required; fast-paced and potentially high-pressure environment.
