Min: $21.74 Max: $33.30. Recovery Room Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm.
The C.N.A./Ward Clerk works under the direct supervision of the departmental Registered Nurses, providing basic nursing care to surgical patients within the scope of C.N.A. certification and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure. The role includes professional efficient customer service to patients, guests, co‑workers, and physicians via telephone, email, and fax. The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, and quality commitment.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with ADLs such as dressing, toileting, ambulation, personal hygiene, peri‑care, catheter care, and safe transferring.
- Perform surgical prep (clipping, nasal swabs, SCD applications). Collect and label specimens appropriately.
- Measure and record vital signs: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, and oxygen status.
- Ensure patient safety and infection prevention procedures during transferring.
- Meet documentation guidelines in the EMR.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and nursing staff; report significant changes in patient conditions.
- Maintain and update patient records and charts, preserving confidentiality.
- Process surgical admissions and discharges in the system.
- Maintain and organize the nursing station; answer telephones and direct calls appropriately.
- Relay messages between staff, physicians, departments, and families; notify surgical teams of updates, consults, or urgent changes.
- Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education: High School diploma or GED required.
- Licenses/Certifications: CNA License, Basic Life Support certificate required.
- Experience: No prior experience required; one year as a ward clerk/CNA preferred.
- Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and EHR (EPIC). Prior customer service experience.
- Other: Ability to handle a variety of duties, maintain teamwork, and incorporate guest relations.
The position requires adequate auditory, visual, tactile, and motor coordination. The role involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, walking, standing continuously, lifting up to 50 pounds independently, and using mechanical aids for patients or objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Working ConditionsHospital environment with variable indoor temperatures, exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment. Employees must follow safety protocols and use PPE as required. Fast‑paced and unpredictable with occasional high‑pressure or emergency situations.
Compensation40 Hours per week. USD $21.74/hr (min) – USD $33.30/hr (max). Job code 01-3211 Recovery Room Day.
