American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift Emergency Department position requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Details- Work in a hospital Emergency Department setting
- Provide care for patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies
- Night shift schedule with 3 shifts per week at 12 hours per shift
- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays as the ED operates 24/7
- Traveler nurses floated to other qualified departments before core staff are floated
- Active RN license in the State of Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN desired)
- Strong clinical skills and critical thinking abilities in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs
- Capable of continuous walking, standing, and working extended 12-hour shifts
- CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
- Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms upon arrival
- Triage patients based on severity of condition to prioritize critical cases
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders
- Perform emergency procedures such as wound care and splinting
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatment
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff
- Document patient information and care in EHR or paper charts as required
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care
- Respond to rapid response calls, code blue situations, and other critical events
- Follow infection control protocols to minimize risk to patients and staff
- Work environment involves frequent exposure to infectious disease, hazardous materials, and occasionally combative patients
