Definition of Position:
The Interventional Nurse Manager coordinates all aspects (RN, RT, CVT) of patient care for interventional radiology and cardiology procedures utilizing a yearly operational budget in coordination with the OR Director. The Interventional Nurse Manager maintains working knowledge of all medical/legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements for the multidisciplinary interventional team (RN, RT, CVT) and ensures departmental compliance. The Interventional Nurse Manager provides direct supervision of the RNs, Rad Techs, and CVTs in the department.

The Interventional Nurse Manager works with Radiology, Cardiology, and House Supervisor to coordinate interventional nursing and radiology technologist activity of the department for the day, as needed. The Interventional Nurse Manager reports directly to the OR Director.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Accept responsibility for the coordination of all interventional staffing and patient care activities. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Manage the interventional area both operationally and fiscally. Verify that interventional personnel provide safe patient care in all areas assigned. Incorporate and assist interventional personnel with assimilating evidence-based practices into patient care. Assist interventional personnel in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.

Verify that educational resources are available for the interventional team and hold interventional personnel accountable for attendance and completion. Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the interventional area. Demonstrate effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the interventional team and other stakeholders. Collect and analyze data related to performance improvement projects that apply to the area managed.

Use effective conflict resolution techniques. Facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach in planning interventional patient care. Evaluate interventional personnel performance and provide guidance, support, and constructive feedback to the interventional team. Interview for interventional personnel selection. Verify that necessary interventional personnel, equipment, and supplies are available. Verify interventional personnel compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards. Exhibit professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Use effective project management principles. Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization. Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Ensure interventional personnel receive their mandated breaks and lunches, as able. Oversee management of supplies and par levels, restocking room, tracking expiration dates, rotating stock, and receiving, unpacking, labeling, and shelving incoming inventory, assigning those duties accordingly and as needed.

Function in a staff role, as needed, to include:
Nursing/Circulator Role Administer medications as ordered, including anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast, and emergency drugs. Maintain sterile technique and assist with procedures as needed. Act as patient advocate and anticipate needs of the interventionalist. Recognize and respond rapidly to complications (e.g., arrhythmia, bleeding, reaction to contrast, stroke alerts, cardiac arrest). Contrast Allergy Management Collaboration Works collaboratively with Rad Tech and physicians to identify and address contrast allergies or sensitivities.

Participates in pre-procedure discussions regarding appropriate contrast agents (e.g., switching to iso-osmolar). Ensures allergy considerations are communicated during the timeout. Moderate Sedation Role When assigned, the RN monitoring the patient for moderate sedation may not engage in tasks that would compromise continual assessment. Verifies ASA classification and consults anesthesia for an ASA score of IV or greater.…
