Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active Oregon RN license and ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Details
  • Emergency Department setting providing care for a wide range of medical conditions from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies
  • Night shift schedule with 3 shifts per week at 12 hours per shift
  • Handles patients of varying acuity levels through triage and emergency care
  • Documents patient information and treatment plans in EHR or paper charts as required
  • May respond to rapid response calls and code blue situations
  • Agency nurses floated to other departments where qualified before core staff are floated
  • Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays as the department operates 24/7
Requirements
  • Active RN license in the State of Oregon
  • Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • Previous clinical experience preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and critical thinking abilities required
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-stress, unpredictable situations
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs
  • Capable of continuous walking and standing throughout long shifts
Additional Information
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms
  • Prioritize patients based on severity of condition during triage
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders, including wound care and splinting
  • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and adjust interventions as needed
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff
  • Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care
  • Advocate for patient rights, dignity, and preferences during care delivery
  • Follow infection control protocols to minimize risk to patients and staff
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives
  • Certifications specific to clinical specialty areas are preferred
  • CRASE training required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
  • Work environment includes exposure to infection, contagious disease, hazardous materials, and occasionally combative patients
