Job Description We are seeking a Field Research Assistant to join our team supporting seasonal corn seed production. The role focuses on field operations including detasseling, scouting, data collection, and quality activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. Responsibilities:
Support corn detasseling activities in July and early August. Assist with seed production tasks including field scouting, data collection, and roguing. Operate field equipment on a limited basis as directed and trained. Follow written and oral instructions to execute day-to-day field activities. Coordinate closely with the Agronomy Supervisor and Research Specialist. Work safely in inclement weather including wind, heat, and cold.
Use a company vehicle for work-related travel as assigned. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Ability to perform outdoor field work and meet physical job demands. Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Excellent driving record and willingness to drive a company vehicle. Availability for extended hours and weekend work in July. Preferred
Skills:
Experience with agricultural fieldwork or seed production. Familiarity with detasseling processes and basic field equipment. Schedule & Assignment Details:
June: 6:00 a.m.
- 4:30 p.m., 5 days per week. July: 5:00 a.m.
- 2:00 p.m., 6 days per week. August: 6:00 a.m.
- 4:30 p.m., 5 days per week. Driving:
