Critical Care Registered Nurse - PCU

This is a 13-week contract position.

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, with a requirement to work every other weekend.

The Critical Care Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) will provide comprehensive care to patients with varying degrees of acuity. This role requires advanced critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage patients' vital signs and health status in a fast-paced environment.
• Administer cardiac drips, insulin drips, heparin drips, and manage peritoneal dialysis.
• Perform clinical procedures including thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and NG tube insertions.
• Practice hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights to ensure patient satisfaction.
• Utilize advanced equipment such as bipaps, high-flow oxygen systems, and wound vacs.
• Document patient care and interactions using the Meditech system accurately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Must possess a valid RN license and hold current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Experience with EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips, and insulin and heparin management is essential.
• Preferred experience in peritoneal dialysis, tube feedings, and peripheral IV skills.
• Previous experience in stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care is advantageous.
